The relatively new methodology of laser acupuncture has already produced a comprehensive history. It took almost 50 years to appreciate the value of laser acupuncture. Findings from basic medical research together with clinical research helped to explain the effects of laser acupuncture on a biomedical and clinical basis acceptable to the Western medical establishment. Recently, laser acupuncture can be combined with conventional medicine to take advantage of what photobiomodulation can offer. By studying both Eastern and Western medicine, laser acupuncture can be used as an effective evidence-based complementary medicine method.
