Chinese-Austrian-EU Summer School by University of Salzburg, Austria

Updated: May 12, 2021

The Chinese Studies Center at the University of Salzburg was founded in 1999 with the aim of deepening cultural relations between Austria and China, in particular between the University of Salzburg and Chinese universities or other educational institutions in China, as well as to support scientific cooperation and projects. Besides activities and programs such as language courses, summer schools, a lecture series, the Agorá, and intercultural briefings, the Chinese Studies Center aims, by means of ancillary cultural activities, at fostering a mutual understanding between the people of East Asia and Europe as well as building a bridge between these cultures.

Since the year 2002, the Chinese Studies Center of the Paris-Lodron-University of Salzburg (PLUS) in cooperation with the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) has annually been organizing the Chinese-Austrian-EU Summer School.

Due to the worldwide pandemic situation, Mag. Judith Suchanek, director of the Chinese Studies Center at the University of Salzburg has decided to offer an online version of the Chinese-Austrian-EU Summer School this year. This Summer School includes all countries of the EU for the first time in the program and focuses on the following main topics:

  • History, politics and philosophy

  • Country and culture specific topics: history of art, music, literature and folk tradition

  • Economy including the relationship of the respective country to China

For the detailed information, please see the announcement of the Summer School:

The detailled programme can be downloaded here:

We sincerely hope that this offer might meet the interest of you and your students. It would also be appreciated if you could forward this information to students who might be interested in this Summer School.

The Chinese Studies Center of the Paris-Lodron-University of Salzburg (PLUS) is very much looking forward to receiving your nominations until the 31st of May 2021 (new deadline!) and to cooperating with you this year in the frame of the first Online Chinese-Austrian-EU Summer School.
